Our Mission
Hamara Health is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to support South Asian community health through sustainable technologies and action-oriented educational initiatives.
Our Story
Hamara Health was founded at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, led by its executive team and a diverse board of directors from across the United States. Our roots stem from a simple community service intervention to improve access to telemedicine services during the pandemic, and since then, we have continued to expand our reach and grow our team. Our work focuses on supporting the well-being of South Asian communities by targeting disparities across cardiovascular health, diabetes management, mental health, sun protection, infectious disease prevention, and more. Through an education-based model working from the community upwards, we hope to build solidarity with the South Asian community, empowering us to break generational challenges and work towards a brighter future.
Our Philosophy
Our programming aligns closely with our organization’s three pillars for impact: community outreach, educational initiatives, and storytelling. Recognizing the struggles and circumstances faced by South Asian communities based on our own personal experiences, Hamara Health is dedicated to our mission of improving community health for those who need it most. As an organization, we acknowledge the tremendous effects that social hegemonies including race, caste, religion, gender, sexuality, geography, and language have on health outcomes, and hope to work together to reduce these disparities, one day at a time.
Today, Hamara Health is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a professional advisory board consisting of leading researchers and clinicians supporting our wide range of programs. Learn more by getting involved today!
